Community Care Retreat

  • 12-14 Englefield Road London, England, N1 4LS United Kingdom (map)

aloe mental health is excited to support End Violence and Racism(EVR) and On Your Side (OYS) for the Community Care Retreat 2024! Join us for a day dedicated to celebrating ESEA heritages and fostering strong mental health through a curated programme of workshops, a bustling market of ESEA-owned businesses, a delicious food offering, and guaranteed good company - all at the brand new ESEACC (previously known as Hackney Chinese Community Services) in Dalston, London!

Whether you're looking to kick back and relax, or get stuck into our busy programme of workshops, panels, and markets, here's what we have planned - more details to come!

Programme
12-2pm: Your free plate of food!
A very exciting announcement is coming to our socials soon... Every ticket comes with a free plate of food on us from this mouth-wateringly good Filipino caterer. Any guesses?

1:00-1:45pm: Panel #1!
Our first panel discussion will be moderated by Annie, advisor to aloe mental health. She will be joined by therapists with ESEA heritage, or have experience working with the ESEA community. You can expect to learn about some of the common mental wellbeing challenges experienced by ESEA young professionals living in the UK, whether at home, work or with friends, and some practical strategies that you can adopt for a happier life.

2:00-3:00pm: Mixed Movement with Rebecca!
Calling all yoga and wellbeing lovers. Join Rebecca for Mixed Movement Flow, a dynamic class exploring mobility, strength and functional movement with a mindful, creative and interdisciplinary approach!

3:30-4:15pm: Panel #2!
This second panel discussion will feature representatives from three community groups/services - End Violence and Racism, On Your Side, and An Viet Archives. You can expect to hear about mental health, anti-racist work, and what it's like working behind the scenes at a grassroots community organisation in 2024.

There's something for everyone. So what are you waiting for? Tell a friend and get your tickets now!

ALL DAY ACTIVITIES
We will have a plethora of activities running throughout the day so make sure you stick around and explore all our offerings.

Explore the Mindful Market to support some fantastic small ESEA businesses and land yourself some artistic creations, sweet treats, and goodies.

Stop in at the Information Station to learn more about EVR, OYS, and Kanlungan Filipino Consortium's support services for ESEA communities.

Head through the garden to the Nature Nook where you can hang out, enjoy the sunshine (we hope), and tell us what Besea.n's ESEA Heritage Month theme of 'Changing Seasons' means to you.

Sit back and relax in the Zen Zone if you need some peace. @squidhorsecomics, @worryroom, and @yamahighway will be facilitating drop-in creative tables.

And don't forget to enter our raffle for a chance to win from an irresistable selection of prizes - delicious ESEA condiments from @makanmalaysia and @yokchanschillioil, and sweet treats from @pollysbakehouse and @theadobrosare are just a few of the goodies up for grabs for only £2 per entry!

Notes

The venue at ESEACC is accessible and has accessible toilets.
