Community Guidelines

Welcome to aloe – a space to connect therapy seekers with the therapists whom they want to work with, and for therapists to share their expertise. Whether you’re here to find the right therapist or build your professional profile as one, we’re all about creating a supportive, respectful, and professional community. Let’s keep it that way!

Our guidelines are here to make sure that everyone can feel safe, understood, and valued. They set out what’s expected of you and what kind of content is (and isn’t) okay on the platform. Ready? Let’s dive in.

1. Profiles – Be You, Authentically!

This is a place for real connections – no fake personas here, please!

  • For Therapists: Your profile should reflect your professional self. Share your qualifications, specialties, and that passion for helping others (we know you’ve got it!). Use clear, professional photos and videos that give potential clients a glimpse into who you are, what drives you to do what you do, and how it would feel to work with you.

  • For Therapy Seekers: You don’t need to get fancy – just be yourself! Choose a respectful username and add a photo that shows the real you (you’re great just the way you are). No cartoon avatars or filters that make us wonder if you’re a hologram.

Humans only – no impersonating celebrities or fictional characters (yes, even if they’re really cool). And, you must be over 18 years old to use the aloe app.

2. Content – Let’s Keep It Professional and Helpful

Therapists, this is your space to shine! Share videos, articles, and insights that can help others. But remember, aloe isn’t a place for just any content – it’s about helping people in their mental health journeys.

  • What to Share: Mental health tips, therapy approaches, self-care advice, educational resources – anything that supports the wellbeing of others, whether therapy seekers or fellow therapists.

  • What NOT to Share: Misinformation, unproven therapies, or anything that sounds too much like a late-night infomercial. And definitely no pseudoscience. aloe is about evidence-based care that truly helps people grow!

  • Respectful Language: Words matter! Be mindful of what you say and how you say it. We don’t tolerate hate speech or anything that belittles or excludes others.

3. Conduct – Let’s Be Kind, Always

Whether you’re connecting with a therapist or looking for mental health resources to learn from, kindness is key. aloe is a place for positive interactions, so please:

  • Respect Boundaries: Therapists are professionals, not your friends. Keep interactions respectful and focused on therapy-related topics.

  • Professional courtesy: And therapists are humans too! They may not respond to your messages straight away as they need sleep and relaxation out of office-hours to be in the best form for their clients.

  • No Harassment: Bullying, trolling, or making anyone feel uncomfortable? Hard pass. We have zero tolerance for abusive behavior – this is a judgment-free zone.

  • Therapist-Client Confidentiality: Therapists, confidentiality is non-negotiable. No sharing client stories (even in disguise). aloe is a space to showcase your knowledge and help others, but without breaching privacy.

4. What We Don’t Allow – We Gotta Draw the Line Somewhere

For everyone’s peace of mind, some things just aren’t welcome on aloe:

  • No Inappropriate Content: Sharing nudity or sexual content? Nope. This is a professional platform for mental health – let’s keep it classy.

  • Hate Speech and Discrimination: We’re all about inclusivity. Content or behavior that discriminates based on race, gender, sexuality, or any other personal characteristic? That’s a no-go.

  • Violence or Graphic Content: aloe is for healing, not horror. No violent or graphic imagery, please.

  • Scams and Spamming: This isn’t the place to promote your pyramid scheme, or spam others with irrelevant messages. Keep it professional and focused on mental health.

5. Safety First – Speak Up If Something Feels Off

We’re all in this together. If you see something that doesn’t sit right – like inappropriate behavior or content – we encourage you to report it to hello@myaloeapp.com.

  • How to Report: It’s easy! Just flag the content or person, and our team will take a look. You can also block anyone making you feel uncomfortable. We take every report seriously, so don’t hesitate to let us know if something’s wrong.

Remember, just because someone says something you don’t agree with doesn’t mean they’re breaking the rules. Respectful disagreement is part of life, but let’s keep it kind.

6. Enforcement – Actions Have Consequences

If someone violates these guidelines, we’ll take action. This could be anything from issuing a warning or removing content to suspending or banning accounts. We will collaborate with law enforcement if something serious happens and are reachable through hello@myaloeapp.com.

We believe in second chances when appropriate, but safety and respect come first. Think of it as tough love – because we care about our community.

7. Mental Health Matters – We’re Here to Help

We get it – mental health is complicated, and sometimes you may be struggling. While aloe isn’t an emergency service, we’re committed to supporting our users. If you or someone you know is in crisis, we encourage you to reach out to appropriate support services. HelpGuide.org has lists of country specific urgent mental health helplines. You can find it on this webpage: https://www.helpguide.org/find-help
